no, don't take the 400 bus unless you are going to somewhere on its route and need to save money. For the city, its madness. Taxi is sensible option as others have said.

I'm still dumbfounded that someone got slugged $45 for a cab to the city.. sorry, but you got shafted.

Maybe they took you via the Iron Cove bridge?

I have been extremely lucky only having 1 no show using Silver Service Taxis for the last 5 years. Usually they arrive within 15 minutes of booking on the internet and I do get a phone call or SMS to say that the taxi is approaching.

Unless there is heavy traffic the taxi fare should be around $30-$40.
