There is not mention of wait listing in the DOX fare rules for this route, so I would surmise that it is not permitted.

I have to fly BNE-SYD on the 20/5 and would ultimately like to fly D class. Having a look at seatcounter.com, there is only two flights left with D class at 8:05am and 8:30pm. I would like to fly around midday. Does anyone know whether I can, and if so, what my chances are of waitlisting into D on say QF525 which is showing J9?

If the rules haven't changed, then according to the domestic fare cue card, then waitlisting is permitted on the DOX fare though the document is about 18 months old

Thanks guys. I gather that this is not something commonly done. I will defintely ask Qantas and post it back for future reference.
Based on the vibes I'm getting though, even if I can waitlist, I suspect I won't be having any luck.![]()
I have waitlisted on many flights for D class seats on QF domestic (as part of Done4) and not one has ever come through.Originally Posted by littl_flier
Thanks Reggie, suspected that may be the case.Originally Posted by Reggie
The fare rules for DONE4 are different for DOX fares. They just both haoppen to book into D class availability. But you cannot assume that because DONE4 permits waitlisting that DOX will also afford the same rules.Originally Posted by Reggie

I wasn't proposing that DOX were afforded the same rules as DONE4, I was answering part 2 of the question by pointing out that my D class waitlists never came through. I made the point about the DONE4 so the OP could see that my answer to the second part of the question was not implying an answer to the first part.Originally Posted by NM
May I suggest the following if saving dollars is the go.
1.Check the flight avail in J on qantas.com for avail. On a midday service its reasonable to expect there wont be huge late demand as for 0700 or 1700 departures.the trick here will be to book as late as poss
1.Grab a D class seat anytime on the day for a flight after the one you want to travel on.
Front at the airport for yr earier flight...whilst people on the cheapest Y fares find it difficult to change flights on the day (except when there are operation disruptions)a business cabin revenue ticket will be treated as full J on the day of travel and they will gladly rebook you to the earlier flight...leave enough time to enjoy the th QF club now Jay travellers have access
The only issue is you may not get that flexibility from the Checkin Kiosks if D class is closed
Great, thankyou Standby. There is a flight at 8:15pm that has a couple of D class seats available. So, if I turn up at the airport at 11 for QF525 @ 12:15 showing J9, I should have no problems? That would certainly be great, and lots of fun for my first Business experience!![]()
