QF107 SYD-JFK upgrades

Hi,

I am traveling to Buffalo in late September and was planning on booking QF107 SYD-LAX-JFK but have a question. I will put in for a points upgrade but if I do not get the upgrade, is their any chance of getting the upgrade from LAX-JFK leg even though it is the same flight number? I am thinking if I miss the SYD-LAX upgrade maybe there will be less people traveling onto JFK but it appears I might not be able to apply for that leg upgrade. Any ideas. Also do you think if I fly on AFL GF day that might provide me a better chance of an upgrade. I am a Qantas WP member.

If your tickeyt says SYD-JFK then you can only waitlist for the upgrade all the way through and not for the individual sectors. If your ticket says SYD-LAX and LAX-JFK then you can only waitlist for the individual sectors.

Re: QF107 SYD-JFK upgrades

well i have not booked yet but searching on line indicates the ticket would be SYD-JFK. I think my best option is to book QF93 and QF107 and apply for an upgrade on both legs. I was just thinking about the transfer from QF93 to QF107 but it appears 93 arrives at terminal 4 and 107 leaves from the same terminal 95 minutes later. Just worried about clearing immigration in time.

If the flights are on time it would be ok, however I did a similar thing about a month ago (BNE-LAX-JFK) and the flight ex BNE was a bit late and they didn't hold the LAX-JFK for connections. While they did offer a rebook... it was on Delta (a bit of a stepdown from QF business).

I was able to upgrade 2 PAX SYD-JFK to J back in June.

I did put my requests in as early as possible at the T-90 day limit.

The day before the flight it was showing J4 D0 SYD-JFK. SYD-LAX was showing J0 D0 and LAX-JFK was showing J9 D9.

Our upgrades came through along with a 192K QFF point deduction.

I will put my request in as soon as my booking is confirmed. Yes the points do disappear quick on those types of upgrades.

Re: QF107 SYD-JFK upgrades

i have been checking EF for the week of Sep 22-26 and it appears the loadings are better from MEL-LAX then SYD-LAX in J C D so I think I will book QF93 then QF107 return and apply for the illusive upgrade.
