Qantas Safety - Business Class Experience

Travelled SYD - DWN Business Class on Monday for deployment to Darwin for aircraft trials for new Rescue H/C and noticed a fellow flyer spitting blood out of his mouth following the traditional welcome on board drink.

Appears that the glass had a chunk missing and the poor guy (Plat) had a large laceration in his mouth as a result of the "drink" Qantas CSM and Steward apologetic and said this is thrid instance of glass breaks/faultuy glasses in last 2 weeks and that it was getting worse... Guy swallowed blood most of way to Darwin and couldnt eat or drink - sure hope it was an upgrade and he didnt pay for it.

Top it off the poor guy got to Darwin and his bags had been offloaded as well (by mistake)..

Anyway i digressed....while sitting on aircraft a Qantas FO (1st Officer) and I chatted about the various states of aircraft and issues with maintenance. He stated (and another behind him confirmed) that increasing numbers of MEL's and "maintenance issues" are getting to the stage that even tech crew are worried..... Was able to briefly read diary entries of FO and as a Pilot (Rotary) I would not be operating aircraft with the types of faults... anyone else have any information that they would care to offer regarding QF safety?

Had bones in my fish once between BNE & MEL in J - made me choke

I'm glad I mainly pass the pre drinks and get a good cold beer going straight after the ding...
