Paris - Accomodation Guidance

Hi there,
I'm going to be in Paris from Sunday 28th June for 4 nights with a friend.
I've spent a ton of time trying to find a reasonably priced hotel or hostel - the problem is, I have no idea which are I should be aiming for..

Hoping there are others on here who have been to Paris and have some of their own recommendations.

Obviously want easy access to all the tourist destinations, but would also be good if the accom was located in a happening area with cools bars and restaurants to check out.. Hostel would be good for the social scene, but not too fussed..

I guess we'd want to spend upto around 130 euros per night, so we might be limited to hostels anyway...

I'm also booking accom for Prague and Barcelona, but it seems less confusing finding a decent place in those places for some reason.

Try Hotel-Hopitel. It's my absolute favorite place in Paris. Two nights 28 and 29 shown available at the moment.

Just a tiny place, fourteen rooms in an attic, but neat and clean, and the location cannot be beaten. Right beside Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter a stone's throw away, Metro and RER almost at the door.

The quirk is that it's located in Paris's central hospital Hotel-Dieu.

Is this your first time in Paris? You'd find that it's extremely easy to use the metro system/ rent the bikes for a few hours to access most major tourist destinations.

Re accommodation, I usually stay with friends in Bastille/ Republique area, which is a pretty funky district. My boss always rents out an apartment (they 'fedex' the key to you before you leave Australia) in central Paris, for a price of 140USD a night (which is in your budget).

Hotel-Hospitel looks pretty neat.. Will investigate a bit more..
My mate wants to stay at a hostel called "Peace and Love" .. Gaawwdd! haha.. I suppose all we need is a bed, toilet, and shower - as I'm certain we will be on walkabout for the majority of time there...

Voyages - Yeh, you're right.. I think as long as I find somewhere decent near the Metro, everything else will fall into place.. It's my first time, so I am freaking out a bit

We stayed at the Citadines Saint Germain serviced apart hotel paris saint germain des pres - Citadines aparthotels: serviced apartments for short term accommodations in major European cities centers. It was very good, might be out of the price range, not sure as we paid in oz and got an apartment for 5 people. On the river close to most attractions - Notre Dame, Lourve, about 30 to 60 mins walk to the tower

As for Funky, well it is on the left bank so maybe more bohemian than funky.

Also I've read a few reviews of the hospital hotel, it looks very good.

I have stayed in a place called Hotel de Nemours. Basic - but clean, recently renovated and cheap. Stayed in May last year and it was only $600 AUD for 5 nights. Parmentier metro is across the road and heaps of funky boulangeries etc around. Paris is amazing so you will have a great time.
