Non-F-Class PAX massage success at SYD

Hi all

Just wonder whether to get mrssimongr's hopes up for a massage/facial at SYD F lounge on Monday. We are on the 2:55 CX flight to HKG in J (CX100).

I have been wracking my brain to work out a way to guesstimate how busy the F lounge is likely to be at that time. I am not sure what other flights depart around that time from SYD...

We are planning on getting to the airport around 12PM

/me is starting to get slightly excited about The Big Personal trip finally

Cheers

S

Re: Non-F-Class PAX massage success at SYD

I had a quick look in GAL, from what I can see, there's only a couple of flights leaving around that time with an F cabin, QF 73 to SFO at 1355 and BA16 to SIN at 1530 (which is 0 in F btw).

Other than that, there's a couple of QF flights with no F cabin (QF187 to HKG at 1425 and QF5 to SIN at 1555)

Can't see much else.

Having said all that, i've got no idea what your chances are, but good luck with it.

Can't really answer about SYD, but I (as a non F pax) have been successful in getting a massage the last 2 times I have been in the MEL FLounge, but not at previous visits. You may have to be a bit flexible on what actual treatment you get, and make do with a back and shoulder massage plus facial only, rather than a full body job. It is still worthwhile doing though, very relaxing .

There's a bit of a hiatus in oneworld departures from STD T1 between around 11:30 and 14:00 with only the FJ910(QF391) / QF11. The lounge tends to be rather quiet from 11am until 12:30.

I would suggest arriving as early as check-in opens for your CX flight (11:30?) and heading straight to the Flounge to book. (Remember the Shortcut up the stairs on the right immediately after x-ray - it's rather well hidden these days).

Basically there is a set of stairs near duty free that take you to the balcony where you enter the lounges. Not sure how much time it saves going to the F lounge as the F lounge escalator brings you right to the F lounge door.

Certainly a time/leg saver for the J lounge.

Just remembered as well that we need to go to TRS - that might be mu job if she gets a facial...

It's on the cusp between the end of the x-ray area and the duty free; immediately to the right. At least it's a straight line once up top; no need to play "dodge the duty Free".

SWMBO & I used it last month; approx 40 seconds from x-ray to Flounge entrance.

Re: Non-F-Class PAX massage success at SYD

Cant say about Sydney F, but would be interested as I have a SYD-HKG flight on the 28th of August.

My main experience is from Melbourne F.

On my last trip, Mel-Nrt, arrived early in the morning and booked as soon as they opened. Managed to get a couple of treatments in.

Usually there is 2 staff at the spa, but during busy periods there will be 3.

Given there is a lull in flights during your time there, best bet is to arrive early and try and book. Worst case is you spend more time in the lounge sampling more champers than required. Although I would check what CX serves as compared to what is in the QF lounge.

I can't see why a massage wuold be a plus.

Maybe it's a personal thing, but I find the idea of strangers' hands all over me quite replusive.
