Re: NEW Jetstar baggage allocation for HNL

I notice Jetstar have added some clarification to the website in regard to bookings made prior to the change (glad I booked a couple of months ago!!)

Passengers travelling to / from the United States (HNL) – Bookings made before 1 November 08

For bookings made before Saturday 1 November 2008 (AEST), each Passenger travelling on a JetSaver, JetFlex or StarClass fare to or from the United States may check in up to 2 pieces of Baggage for carriage in the aircraft hold at no additional charge. The maximum total combined dimension of the two pieces is 270cm (106 inches), with no single item exceeding 158cm (62 inches).

Each piece of baggage which is above the Checked Baggage Allowance specified above will be charged AUD 96 per piece (departing from Australian airports) or USD 72 per piece (departing from Honolulu).

Moose, I did the same as you too - printed it straight away and attached it to my booking confirmation as proof.

Post Re: NEW Jetstar baggage allocation for HNL

We booked in August to travel to HNL in February so luckily will still have the 2 x 32kg allowance. We usually do lots of shopping in Hawaii and have always needed our 2 bags each so with only 20kg in future we won't go back to Hawaii for a while, certainly not on Jetstar.

Re: NEW Jetstar baggage allocation for HNL

I bought two tickets on the 14th Oct Mel - Hnl for May next year with the baggage allowance of 2 x 32 kilos pp...Today's sale states that tickets purchased after 1/11/08 will have the new baggage alloance of 1 x 20Kg applied. My question is are Jetstar allowed to do this when Qantas still state on their web site that booking thru them for the USA 2 x 32Kg's still apply. I know they are separate businesses but though all travel through to the USA with any carrier had the standard luggage allowance of 2 x 32Kg's...Have been lucky with all my previous trips to HNL to have upgraded at the airport to Star Class, last year $300 pp one way and $250 US on the return, also had all points and SC applied too, does anyone know the cost currently?

Re: NEW Jetstar baggage allocation for HNL

Sorry to ask the question again but as a regular traveller to Hawaii and mainly for shopping are Jetstar allowed to impose this new bagge restriction? Seems that any other flights including Qantas entering or departing the USA still allow the 32 kilo rule x 2 bags..we are lucky that we booked prior to Nov 1 so get the extra luggage allowance this time but just wonder about the validity of such a rule...will be the last time that we use Jetstar guess

I don't think that there is anything that stops them. Other airlines such as Cathay Pacific impose a 23kg per bag limit on economy passengers to the US.
