I find Starclass the most comfortable , then BA and then Qantas

    Legroom is similar on each

Just booked Economy to Honolulu (didn't have better) and Starclass back with QFF points, we are both average height, what are best seat numbers to get?

Also can seats be booked online?.

Limewood, I strongly recommend you call QF, cancel the points usage for Starclass and incur a small points cancellation penalty. QF are charging you Business points for a Premium economy product (Starclass). You are far better of keeping those points for use in real business class (say A380 flat bed).

You may even consider paying for an On Departure Upgrade fee at HNL ($300?) to move from economy into StarClass if available at the time.

I concur with goldmember - save the points and buy an extra legroom seat in economy instead (not very expensive). Otherwise the points are only buying you the premium check-in and lounge access (oh, and meals i suppose- but only in terms of $$, the quality is the same as economy).

While the seats may be similar, I don't think the service is anywhere the same as Qantas domestic business class.

While the crew make a good show if the limited resources, and they have little touches like a paper tray cover (to simulate the cloth ones in business), and the have plunger coffe, there is not much else lie domestic business.

beverages are served in plastic 'glasses', the food is in foil and with plastic cutlery.

Breakfast is a hot gooey cheese english muffin, or similar - on my last flight the pursar had to write it up in the log becuase it was so bad (most passengers returned it).

The best seats for two passengers I think are 1EF. There is legroom and no-one reclining on you.

The next ones I would go for ar 1AB.

1JK should be avooided as the area immediately in front is part of the galley where they have extra crew seats and when they sit and chat it can be very noticeable.

Its not going to be a cheap business class. Its really a premium economy product.
Are you sure about that? Have yet to be able to get in-seat power myself. Is this new?

EDIT I see on the web site they claim in-seat power. On my flights SYD-HKT-SYD I found the connection but staff told me they did not operate.

I have used the power in starclass 4 times last year, when they operated BNE-SYD, no issues at all!

It was most likely they had an issue and the power was not working that particular day. I once did a BKK-MEL flight and the power was not working, they tried to tell me it was not operational, when I spoke to the CSM he went back, reset the system and it worked perfectly. Never trust the flight attendant, sometimes they just do not care enough. I find * class on the whole an excellent service for the price. I have flown it over 20 return legs MEL-BKK each time so feel well equipped to pass comment. Food can sometimes be "iffy" but generally good. If you do not like the meal just ask and they will provde sandwiches or something different from the paid menu. Entertainment is the only downer and maybe they shoudl consider two prograsm, one for each leg as when you do multiple trips per month you end up watchign them all.

I wouls pay if it was no own money to go * class as opposed to QF Y to QF Y*. I have never flown JQ Y class so cannot comment other than when walking through the Y cabin, it does appear nice and on most of my flights plenty of space but I am sure they have sold out at times and it might feel cramped..
