I have to book some internal sectors in the USA....iE JFK - New Orleans. New Orleans - Montreal etc. I have just had a look around with different sites (Expedia...). It is worth the effort or should I just use my travel agent ??

    Cheers,
    Roger

The prices on AA dot com are just ridiculous when paying with an Australian credit card and they are everywhere else I have looked as well, I just don't get why it has to be so much more expensive than using the US sites with a US credit card!

There are different types of carriers in the U.S, just like in Australia.

Such as low cost, "new age" and "legacy" carriers. Each have their benefits and downfalls.

Note that service on U.S flights is very spotty, and is nothing like the service or quality that we're spoilt with on Australian domestic sectors.

Ok, should you deal with your travel agent? Maybe. There are "vist america" type passes that are available from certain airlines in conjunction with your fare. Not sure you'll save any money though vs point-point bookings. They may also be not able (or want) to access fares through some of the low cost carriers.

How about pricing up some fares via Expedia - quick and simple, then convert the rate to $A from somewhere like XE - The World's Favorite Currency and Foreign Exchange Site . Then tyre kick your agent and see if they can do better....

Note that (as mentioned) the AA Australian site is up and running, and would allow you to pay $A for AA flights.
