    Increasing existing points

We are looking to travel Bne to Osaka in jan 08. FF Flights are available but we fall about 20,000 pts short of getting them.
We are accruing points on Amex, NAB Gold and CommBank cards ( the latter 2 are 1.5 to 1).
Can anyone suggest how we might increase these pts without "buying" them at Qantas rates. I thought I read somehere on here that CBA can be upgraded to platinum and then becomes 1 to 1 QFF pts. I would defeintely consider someting like that.
Look forward to your expert help.

    More,

    Welcome to AFF.

A CBA Platinum CC certainly gives points at a 1:1 rate for QF FF points if that's your question.

There are several other topics on this forum that discuss FF points ratios in detail.
    cheers,
    Bill.

Note that minimum credit limit for a CBA platinum card is $12,000, so if your current credit limit is less than that you will also need to apply for a credit limit increase.

Thanks for your replies, your help is appreciated.

Re the CBA points I was trying to work out if the following is true- We have 145,000 pts there, if I transfer to QFF I know they will reduce to about 100,000 QFF Pts. Is it correct if I upgrade to platinum today those pts stay the same in CBA But the transfer rate becomes 1:1 to QFF thereby effectively gaining 50,000 pts in the transaction.

    Any thoughts?

I believe that your awards points balance will remain unchanged if you upgrade to platinum, but you gain the better transfer rate of 1:1. So you will gain an additional ~50,000 QFF points.

Hi,,,you mention that you have an AMEX..but do not say what type it is..

If it is say a Maximiser and you do not have a QANTAS AMEX.....then you can also get a QANTAS AMEX each (you say we..so I assume that is by 2. If Only one of you has a QANTAS Amex...then have the other join if they havea $40K+ income).

This way can gain you 15000 points each..and if you buy a QANTAS sevice another 2500 each.

The $195 fee is waived for the first year.

See the AMEX section of this site for more details.
