Hotel Accommodation - Guangzhou

I am attending an trade exhibition at the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 30th May to 2nd June and am looking at hotel options.

I have never stayed in Guangzhou previously (a few times in Foshan).

Ideally the hotel would be near the convention centre. Has anyone stayed in this area of Guangzhou previously and can they recommend a reasonable hotel.

There are two HI's in Guangzhou, so are these reasonable options.

Have you considered the Shangri-La? It's a new hotel and located next to the convention centre. It's 30minutes from the airport by car, and like the convention centre a little remote from the city centre. However the underground has access nearby. For some reviews go here:

Thanks BlacKnox, certainly convenient to the convention centre.

Room rate is higher than what would normally be approved, but it is a busy time in CAN for exhibitions so any reasonable hotel is probably in same price range.

I like (love!) the White Swan in Guangzhou, but I am not sure where the convention centre actually is in relation to it...
