Footrests on V Australia premium economy

Hi, I'm thinking about travelling Syndey to LA on either Qantas or V Australia premium economy. Does anyone know how the footrests on V Australia work? How adjustable are they compared with on Qantas? Also how comfortable are leather seats compared with cloth for long distance travel? Does it get hot and sweaty? How does the 777 from V Australia compare with 747-400 from Qantas?

    Thanks for your help.

No idea on VA but for me a talish guy on QF the PE foot rests are 100% useless !
I hate leather and much prefer cloth.... you sweat (or it do anyway)

I would suspect both products are similar. I think the QF PE is really good, no chance to try VA yet though.

    Thanks Evan,
I'm very tall and I've found the footrests on British Airways reasonably good and hoped Qantas PE would be similar. Yes, I suspect 15 hrs on leather would be a bit sweaty. Unfortunately, there's no pictures on the web of the footrests for VA and even their staff don't seem to know.

Been a while since i have flown WT+ but i can't remember there foot rests being any good either. I guess its very much a personal thing i like to have my legs out rather than bunched up.

Still i do find the QF PE really really comfortable, i like the seats. (Other have said they did not like them that much but generally most like)

From my point of view any whY+ is better than Y and if there is much difference in price just go the cheapest and try it out.

Now i am WP so QF is my preference for lounges etc so if there was $100 cheaper VA i would still fly QF but not the case for everybody.

I think VA's PE is around $1997 inc whilst QF's is still a round $3,200 on the route so quite a bit more pricey to fly QF.

Personally I'd take VA, earn silver status with the trip and use the $1200 AUD saved to get a better hotel like the W or something in LA

I flew JQ star class SYD-HNL and didn't mind leather seats on that route. Ie it wasnt sticky and sweaty.

Like I keep saying - I'd be happy to save the cash and fly VA. Without them on the route we wouldnt have all the cheap flights now - so we should get behind them.

$1200 cheaper there is no question i would fly VA, atleast to try them once.. and i actually get lounge access with priority pass anyway but thats just a Flounge

Just to note i have never checked PE prices to the USA, i would either hope i could afford J on a oneworld ticket or *A ticket or just fly whY.

I used to fly WT+ in and out of Asia on BA but back then the fares were much better value than now.

It is so hard to put a $ value on the benefits that come with QF Platinum status. Another carrier would need to be a lot cheaper than just $100 for me to use them on a long haul flight. It is not just lounge access but exit row seat requests, priority check-in, express departure/arrival cards, additional luggage allowance etc.

Your right... was just an example... Although i usually try to shift dates to get the price closer or better i also would pay more than $100 difference for QF depending on what flights. I don't have any set limit just look at each case as it happens.

Now i am tossing up if i should try a SIN-MEL-SIN on EK but $414 its a really good price.

And I have been seriously considering SYD-BKK-SYD on EK for $720. It sure is a good deal but I only have time for a limited number of overseas trips every year and if I choose best airfare with different carriers I will lose status very quickly.

Save some money or maintain status? For now I choose status as I fly domestically every week....

    Thanks for your comments everyone.
They've helped make up my mind. As you say, ANstar, the difference between QF and VA PEs is considerable, around $1000 I've been quoted. Perhaps the leather seats won't be too bad or I can bring a towel.
Thanks again for all your help.
