Ff Spend Options

Hiya,

I have about 70,000 QF Points. I know its not much. Im based in Europe at the moment and so if I fly oneworld it will be BA. But most Y BA fares are only credited by QF at 1/4 rate which is awful.

Do you think its best for me to work out a way to spend my points on small European side trips and then move across to AA?

Ideally I would have liked to accrue enough to get a Business class upgrade (one way) back to Sydney later in the year. But upgrading with points seems impossible.

Also does anyone know any websites which list low cost airlines out of Europe. I only really know Thompsons, BMI Baby, Ryanair and Esy Jet. I have been using kyak to price flights but would prefer to see some of the other LCC options as I know kyak does not have them all.

cheers

Using QF points on intra-Europe trips is not particularly good value, from my experience the cost of the taxes is normally very similar to what you can pay outright for a discount flight (even BA's specials are pretty close to the cost of taxes on an award flight.)

I would advise saving them until you next come to Australia and use them to get around domestically, they won't expire (as long as you have some activity every 3 years)

BestFlights has airfares for many LCCs around the world. There are 41 LCCs listed in Europe.

I've only had a quick look at whichbudget.com but it seems fairly extensive.

Re: Ff Spend Options

Cheers for the tips.

Yes I had thought that using them in Europe was expensive but did not know really what else to do. I just wonder though if it is better to keep putting them into QF or go on with AA where I only have about 5,000 points.

More than likely doing a return trip to Sydney early next year from LHR so I will start accruing into AA then I think (unless I continue to do small trips with BA).

IF work is paying get booked on BA in B class or higher. This will give you 1 for 1, plus double the disk Y SC's.
