I am hoping somebody can tell me from first hand experience (or at least reliable sources) if anybody has managed to ticket a DONEx from Korea via AA.
As i understand it the main routes are ICN-NRT on JL (Fuel fines would be amazing i would expect ?) or ICN-HKG on CX and i doubt i would like there taxes and YQ.
Ex South Africa i have ticketed via AA (first flight CX but one over water segment on AA) without issues but looking at the other threads i am not sure i actually have seen somebody managed to use AA to ticket in Korea. The payment in person would not be a big deal for me as i should be there for work soon i hope.
Is it all too hard as a lot of others have decided ?
I will still check availability ex SA also since its not much cost difference from South Africa doing a DONE4, and the AA path is well used also by myself. (Although paying via Amex at the moment looks a lot worse than when i last did it)
ECode:5,686,200.00 KRW = 6,389 AUD KR DONE3 45,000.00 ZAR = 6,618 AUD SA DONE4

I had read that thread but i did no really tell if in the end it was purchased in KR. Well i may end up breaking new group and be the first to really buy Ex KR depending on how if i can use my SQ krisflyer points again to South Africa.

Evan,
Did you end up ticketing ex-ICN?
I am looking at doing a DON4 ex-ICN - but I have no travel plans to enable me to pay for the ticket in person at ICN.
Does that mean I am stuffed???
What I really want to do is go: MEL-LHR-MCI-MEL for the least $$$. A straightforward trip, not optimized at all - but with a wife and baby, that's all I can expect to do comfortably.
Should I instead be looking at ticketing out of South Africa and starting there, instead?
Any comments much appreciated.
Cheers,

I'm trying to find the same answer.
I know you could book using the oneworld online booking tool, but as far as I know, there are no AA flights (or codeshares) out of ICN, which means that the booking tool would automatically ticket it to another carrier (I think it automatically tickets to the first carrier).
So, if anybody has worked out a way to ticket AA out of ICN without having to physically visit the office, please post it......

I'm interested in doing this too. I was thinking that I would use frequent flyer points to get to Korea and start there. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has success booking this without having to be in Korea to do it.
So, I'm a little confused about this - from what I can tell, a DONE4 can be booked using the OW online tool through AA only where the AA codeshare flight through NRT is the commencement flight. But it is entirely possible to book it from here (well, online anyway).
What I'm trying to work out is whether the AA RTW desk will be able to ticket it, and if so what the pricing implications would be - would they only be able to offer the US price for the DONE4, or would they refer you to the AA office in Seoul which seems to have been so problematic for others?
Clearly the preference is to ticket through AA given the crazy fuel fines on the other airlines, even on CX - is there any benefit to using any other travel agents to do this?
If using the AA ATW desk, they will make the reservation for you and price it for you. But you need to find an agent in the country of origin to issue the ticket. The agent may be an AA office or a TA who uses Sabre. But you will be required to pay in currency of the country of origin and for the ticket to be issued in that country.

Ok, so would either of these alternatives fly?
a) Book/price the reservation now through AA RTW, pick up/pay for ticket through their referred agent in Seoul just prior to departure; or
b) Book through OW online tool and not worry about having to pick up the ticket physically from Seoul?
