Cheapest business to USA?

Hi all!

Am looking to travel in Feb from MEL to LAX for a week up to SFO for a cpl of days and then to Orlando and back to MEL.

OW circle is showing 9kish. Does anyone know of a cheaper business class fare or a better way to do it?

I can go to China or Berlin for work if need be.

Any help is much appreciated!!

Re: Cheapest business to USA?

The only cheaper way would be to take a OW circle from a cheaper point of departure. For example, you could do a OW circle 22 ex-MNL for around $5,400 (US) plus taxes. However, you would need to make your own way to and from MNL - a quick scan on the net showed flights from 1,200 AUD on Philipine Airlines and 1,600 AUD (inc taxes) on Cathay (still a lot cheaper than a DCIR22 ex-MEL). Expert flyer shows some even cheaper tix (ex taxes) flying Malaysian (around $600 + taxes).

An itinerary of MNL - NRT - LAX - SFO - MCO - LAX - NRT - MNL works out to 19,648 miles, so you could probably even switch NRT for HKG in one direction if you wanted.

Re: Cheapest business to USA?

Just read your post again. If you can already be in China, then a OW DCIR22 departing from China would be approx 6,500AUD + taxes.

BettyBoop, all abbreviations or explanations of codes can be found in the sticky thread (Abreviations and Explanations) in this sub-Forum. Look at post #7 and scroll down to D.

Re: Cheapest business to USA?

If you want to book the ticket before flying out of Australia, you'll need to book it through a OW airline. I have only booked ex-NRT tickets before, and not ex-China, but I assume you would do it through the local CX office in China. You'll have to check with them re payment methods though.

Perhaps someone else on the forum has booked from there previously and they may be able to shed some further light on this.

good luck
