    Attaining Silver Status

I have been a bronze QFF member for a number of years. Unfortunately I do not have a job that requires me to travel hence, unlike a number of members in this group I can only dream of attaining gold or platinum status. One thing I would like to try and attain though is silver status. I have come close to doing so in the past few years but always seem to be thwarted by the annual expiry date.

One thing I recently chanced upon was finding that I was able to indirectly transfer status credits for flights made in a previous year into my current 'status' year. The flights were with AA, Lan Chile & BA for which my QFF number was mistakenly omitted from the original bookings. When I did eventually get around to faxing copies of the boarding passes through (some 8 months later) I realised that the status credits I received for the flights were allocated to my current 'status credit' year as opposed to the previous year in which the flights were actually taken.

Based on this I am guessing that if you know you're not going to reach your targeted status credit total in one year, and don't mind holding on to boarding passes and going to the trouble of faxing them through you could save them and 'push' them into the following year where they might be of more use.

I was just wondering if anyone else had shared this experience and also if they had any other tips for a meagre traveller such as myself who takes a couple of holidays a year, as to how to maximise their status credit accumulation.

Hmm, this used to work, but in my experience, and that of others I have seen, QF is now crediting the Status Credits as an "adjustment to lifetime status credits" and not as additional status credits to the current year. This is certainly the case for QF flights taken in the previous membership year.
