Flightmemory.com Premium service

Just wondering if anyone is using the Premium service offered by Flight Memory.

I'm interested in hearing any feedback on if it is worth the $$$. I've got most of my data in there but I noticed it lacks certain features.

Cheers,

Nick

Re: Flightmemory.com Premium service

Hi Nick,

Only you can answer whether you think the benefits are worth it but there a few cool features that aren't available on the basic service. The key benefits I see are being able to zoom in on fligth maps and the additional stats on distance per airline and travel over the last year.

Here is what Flightmemory proclaim of the Premium service for ~$45 ($39USD):

Quote:
  • Additional statistical details > Example here
    • Detailed zoom anywhere in the world-map
    • Toptwenty entries instead of topten
    • Complete rankings of all stats
    • Additional stats on top airlines and top aircrafts by distance
    • Yearly statistics detailing your acitivites (flights, distances, duration)
    • Addtional functionality to sort the data by airline and aircraft
    • List of the visited continents and countries
    • Most northern, most southern, most eastern and most western airports visited
    • Note: Additional PREMIUM statistics will only be available after sign-in. Public stats (my.flightmemory.com/username) will not change until further notice
  • Journeys can be added:
    • New tool for journeys: enables you to build history of flights and additional information such as rental car, trains, buses, etc.
    • All costs of a journey may be added to allow for comparisons between your trips
    • Costs for any element of a journey may be defined in different currencies
    • And of course all costs of a journey will be added to allow you a comparison over your journeys
  • Private mail: With a PremiumMembership you may contact other user via a private message and chat about flights you may have shared, airports visited, frequent flyer bonuses etc!
  • FlightMemory user in your vicinity*. Check out if there are FlightMemory user living near you and contact them via the Private Mail system.
  • Compare your FlightData to the data of all user - check out where you stand compared to other FlightMemory user
    • compare flown distance, time in air, number of flights
    • compare airports, airlines, aircrafts, roures, countries and airplanes
  • Easily copy flights for recurring trips
  • Create round trip flights in one easy step
  • Instantly create PDF Files of FlightData and Maps for printing or archiving
  • And last, but not least: No ads from affiliate or other mass-programs - only exclusive partner-ads are shown to Premium user

I guess I am looking for feedback - It looks good but wanted other people's experiences with it.

I tried using it - it's a PITA to enter/edit your flights. I still would not use a paid service with it.

ba97.com | Travel Calendar is easier to use (although different).

Re: Flightmemory.com Premium service

interesting. I know Flight memory is a PITA to enter information, I don't know why it is a two step process..

But i like the stats and maps on it.. And I have entered nearly all the flights I can and can't remember!

I think also the PRemium version let you upload flight details via Excel.
Although if you already have them in that form query why you need the program, apart from the reporting

Re: Flightmemory.com Premium service

Once you've backdated the flights and have the historical data in there, I've found it quite easy to add flights. (ie. no more than 1 min per flight) I like that it tracks mileage etc and find it better than the BA97 calander.

For me, the Premium Subscription is not needed yet as I can still see fairly easily the routes I've taken on the maps. For someone like Kiwi Flyer though, being able to zoom in on the flights would be handy.

you can get that on the free service - you have to pay for it. And I believe you have to pay for it on the premium service too.

i liked the idea of Journeys, It would be good to group them together when you do multi leg trips. That's what i was keen to find out about.

Re: Flightmemory.com Premium service

I have been using the free version for quite some time.
Entering the data is quite simple now as most of it is pre-entered, so when I type the first letter, I just select from the drop down list (autofill - turn on if you don't it doesn't come up for you)

I have looked at the premium service and can't really see any benefit in it for me.

Here is my link.

Re: Flightmemory.com Premium service

How is it, while looking at KiwiFlyers trips, he has been 8 times less from Auckland to Wellington, than Wellington to Auckland?
