Virgin Mobile + Velocity = 10,000 bonus points

Mobile phones, great rates, free voicemail in Oz: that’s Virgin Mobile Australia

Get any new mobile phone on a 24 month cap plan from Virgin Mobile and get 10,000 bonus Points.
That’s enough Points for a case of Corona, flights to the Gold Coast from Sydney**, $50 in Gift Vouchers from Velocity Online Shop or Entry into Virgin Blue’s Lounge several times. Velocity is free to join.

Virgin Mobile Terms & Conditions:
  1. 10,000 Velocity Points offer is open to Velocity Members who are Australian residents over 18 years old.
  2. Promotion period is 12/03/08 to 31/05/08.
  3. Only available when joining Virgin Mobile by calling 1300 300 454 or visiting virginmobile.com.au/velocity and quoting your Velocity Membership Number.
  4. Only available to new credit approved customers who connect to a 24 month CAP plan, excluding mobile broadband plans.
  5. Cancelled services will forfeit the Velocity Points offer and early disconnection fees apply. See virginmobile.com.au for full details. Virgin Mobile (Australia) Pty Limited ABN 67 092 726 442.
**Examples of Point redemption values are correct as at 12 March 2008, and based on: (for the flights) current Virgin Blue Sale fares on sale until midnight 16 March 2008, for travel between 29 April and 26 June 2008; (for the Corona) Points necessary for redeeming a case of Corona through the Velocity Online Shop. Redemptions are subject to availability, and taxes, fees and surcharges may be payable. Point values are subject to change.

Re: Virgin Mobile + Velocity = 10,000 bonus points

This actually seems like pretty good value.

The cheapest Virgin Mobile plan ($20 cap incl. phone) is $480 over the 24 months, which equals 20.83 points per dollar...

Compared to the 5, 6 or 7 points for Velocity members on DJ flights it looks very good for a special offer.

And considering it happens to fall at a time where I need to replace my Telstra phone, very very tempting.

Re: Virgin Mobile + Velocity = 10,000 bonus points

Just checked my Velocity account and noticed that the 10,000 points had already been deposited, after only a couple of weeks or so (I'm still waiting for my 16,000 points from NAB).

Got a great phone (Nokia 6300), a free IPod Shuffle and a free set of Bluetooth headphones, all for a $20 a month cap plan. I already had a $10 monthly plan with another company, so I had my number transferred to Virgin and got 10,000 points for an extra $10 per month (and a much better phone plan to boot).

Pretty good all round I would say.

Joined up with Virgin Mobile last week. $30 cap plan with a very very swish LG KU990 (with a touch screen ) in total around $40 a month for $140 worth of calls and a fair mobile broadband allowance.

Got a pleasant surprise to see the 10,000 points were credited today. Should make flying around NZ later this year a little bit cheaper.

Re: Virgin Mobile + Velocity = 10,000 bonus points

I'm already on Virgin Mobile, so no 10,000 points for me.
But they do offer a 5% rebate on flights you take with DJ, you just have to follow the link on the Virgin Mobile website when you go do to a booking and put your mobile number into the booking. Then a month or two later you get 5% of whatever you spent with DJ back as a credit on your phone bill.

Sure, it's not huge, but it's easy enough to do and it works really well. When I had to change my flight date once and went onto a more expensive fare the following month I found a credit for 5% of the difference appeared as well!

Beats the heck out of Qantas' mobile phone scheme!

Nice promotion but I am already locked into Telstra until December. I hope this offer is on again then.

Who thought of this marketing garbage? I can understand the 10,000 Velocity points for joining Virgin mobile are free but for people on paid flights it would mean $2,000 worth of travel to accumulate 10,000 Velocity points. All this for a $50 case of Corona? Please get serious....

At least they are not offering Crownies. That would be very poor value.

Doesn'ts seem like a bad redemption rate. $50 Corona is 2.5% of the $2000 spend, which is not too bad in comparison to other loyalty schemes.
