Re: Virgin Mobile + Velocity = 10,000 bonus points
Just checked my Velocity account and noticed that the 10,000 points had already been deposited, after only a couple of weeks or so (I'm still waiting for my 16,000 points from NAB).
Got a great phone (Nokia 6300), a free IPod Shuffle and a free set of Bluetooth headphones, all for a $20 a month cap plan. I already had a $10 monthly plan with another company, so I had my number transferred to Virgin and got 10,000 points for an extra $10 per month (and a much better phone plan to boot).

Pretty good all round I would say.
Joined up with Virgin Mobile last week. $30 cap plan with a very very swish LG KU990 (with a touch screen ) in total around $40 a month for $140 worth of calls and a fair mobile broadband allowance.
Got a pleasant surprise to see the 10,000 points were credited today. Should make flying around NZ later this year a little bit cheaper.
Re: Virgin Mobile + Velocity = 10,000 bonus points
I'm already on Virgin Mobile, so no 10,000 points for me.
But they do offer a 5% rebate on flights you take with DJ, you just have to follow the link on the Virgin Mobile website when you go do to a booking and put your mobile number into the booking. Then a month or two later you get 5% of whatever you spent with DJ back as a credit on your phone bill.
Sure, it's not huge, but it's easy enough to do and it works really well. When I had to change my flight date once and went onto a more expensive fare the following month I found a credit for 5% of the difference appeared as well!

Beats the heck out of Qantas' mobile phone scheme!

Nice promotion but I am already locked into Telstra until December. I hope this offer is on again then.

Who thought of this marketing garbage? I can understand the 10,000 Velocity points for joining Virgin mobile are free but for people on paid flights it would mean $2,000 worth of travel to accumulate 10,000 Velocity points. All this for a $50 case of Corona? Please get serious....

At least they are not offering Crownies. That would be very poor value.

Doesn'ts seem like a bad redemption rate. $50 Corona is 2.5% of the $2000 spend, which is not too bad in comparison to other loyalty schemes.
