Just flew a SYD to OOL leg on DJ and found myself sitting in an Embraer 70 without my live2air? Just wondering whether this is a permanenet change or a one off reschedule of planes?
    Happy Oz Day to all.

Their timetable shows that only DJ 519 and it's return leg DJ 520 are a regularly scheduled Embraer flight, all other flights are 73's.
    Were you on 519/520 ?

Was the E170 full scibo10? I always thought that DJ had too much capacity on SYD-OOL.

    I flew the otherway between OOL-SYD on the 15th Jan and I counted 40pax on a 737-700

Sunstar320, my flight was quite full, but it was also Oz Day long weekend, so would expect a large number of people to the the sun and surf of the Gold Coast.
NIGELINOZ, I was on DJ519. That explains it.

Perhaps if crazydave98 sees this thread he may be able to explain the
reason for using Embraers on only two flights, unless DJ is testing them on
route with a view to replacing the 73's they currently use.

    Demand?

Seatcounter shows lots of seats over the next few days, let alone further in advance. On all flights.

You'd have to wonder if they'll cut frequency, or aircraft size.

OOL is pretty tough at the moment with TT and JQ there - perhaps smaller a/c with Y+ and high frequency will be the counter attack.

I agree with your comments, they are probably doing tests on the Embraer's for fuel consumption etc with a view to using them instead of the 73's ,would seem to be a waste of a resource flying half empty 73's on a route if you can service the demand with a newer, smaller aircraft. and use the 73's on other routes.
