Do you ever think this will happen. My wife has quite a few points while I have only a few thousand that are likely to languish for ever

Certainly doesn't appear to be allowed at the moment.

2.5 Membership of the Velocity Program is personal to you. This means that membership, Velocity Membership Cards and all benefits associated with membership (including Points and Rewards) are not transferable to anyone else.

But there is nothing stopping your wife redeeming a flight for you:

You may use your Points to acquire an Air Reward on Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue Aust, Pacific Blue NZ or Polynesian Blue for another person. An additional booking charge will apply unless the person is a member of your immediate family (namely spouse [including de facto partner], parent, step parent, parent in law, grandparent, brother, sister, child (including foster child and step child), grandchild, son, daughter, son-in-law and daughter-in-law).

Bit of a shame that. I have about 17K points due to CC promotion and a flight or two, and my wife has about 0 points due to her refusing to visit a NAB branch and pick up the new CC (don't ask!).

The whole family is going to the Gold Coast for a week in the school holidays and we are flying DJ via Brisbane, so I was going to join the kids up. I had hoped to pool our points for a future reward or two, but if the wife and kids can't transfer their points then they are probably going to be valueless.

But in the hope that clause 2.5 is revoked at some point, and seeing how it doesn't cost anything to join, I have signed them up anyway.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Might be an idea to send some feedback into Velocity/Virgin about it, or take it up with crazyDave98. If enough people with languishing pionts do this, then just maybe they will provide a mechanism to do it.

QF allows transfer of points between eligible family members so one would think that it may be in DJ's best interests to introduce the same to Velocity.

Do any frequent flyer programs allow transfer of points? It is not possible to transfer points in Royal Orchid Plus, Kris Flyer or Icarus ffp's.

HA allows the transfer of points to anyone who holds their credit card. Our family uses this extensively and it's one of the things that I love about their program

I always suspected they may have held off doing it at the launch because of the NAB 15,000pt offer. If you applied for the Visa and Amex you scored yourself 30,000pts so if you also got your wife, brother, sister, mother, father, dog, cat etc to sign up for the cards you could end up with a big fat haul of points to transfer to yourself.

Hopefully they'll bring the transfer in sometime soon (now that the NAB offer is over)
