Blue Zone Check In

I am flying to Perth this weekend and have seats booked in the Blue Zone. Considering I can't check in for these seats online or through the kiosks at the airports I am wondering if I can use the Priority Check In Desks?

I am travelling with hand luggage only so want to avoid the lines at Check In - I'm only a Red Velocity member.

Re: Blue Zone Check In

Hi, welcome!

I don't believe it's a published benefit of a Blue Zone seat to be able to use the Priority Check-in queue, however, my recommendation is that if it is empty and the normal queue is long to just walk up and ask the subtle question "Is this where I check-in for a Blue Zone Seat?". You'll either get a "go join the main queue" response, a "No, but I'll let you this time only" response, or a "Yep, no worries".

AFAIK Blue Zone doesn't get you priority check in, but if you only have hand luggage you should be able to check in at the gate.

I don't know if Virgin Blue allow pax to check-in at the gate but certainly the infrastructure is there if needed.

Passengers can check-in at the Lounge in SYD which is airside. So this would work for Blue Zone pax. I guess a non-lounge member could pay the $30 and check-in there.

Actually there is a self-check kiosk inside the SYD Lounge foyer next to the desk, so a non-member could use that to check-in provided they weren't flying Blue Zone.

Seeing as we have a pentchant for taking things OT...

How do you get a BZ seat? I have tried looking for it but cant find where to get it. Or do i have to ring up and they get me one? Or do i have to ask at the gate? (I'm assuming not as the OP has already got one)

You can't purchase Blue Zone online so either purchase it via the GCC (tel 13-6789) or just purchase your regular fare online and then phone the GCC and upgrade to Blue Zone.

Easy-peasy.

Re: Blue Zone Check In

Thanks for the replies. I'll see what happens when I check in. I "upgraded" my ticket to blue zone after booking online by calling the call centre - you can't book these seats online -probably something to do with the safety requirements etc.

DJ must be doing well with Premium Economy on the flights to PER - all the seats on my flights are booked out

Blue Zone used to get you priority check-in but since the status levels came in I think this benefit has been removed.
