Interesting to see how this works. It could easily turn people away to opposition airlines unless the others follow along.

Re: United Airlines to require minimum stays from Oct.

So how this works is that you're looking for a flight, and you get an economy class ticket with United that makes you stay overnight, vs another airline, which doesn't have it - which one do you take?

If I was in business, I would probably look at moving myself away from United - even looking to get a status match with another airline and leave them over this.

I think you'll find that ALL legacy airlines in the US will follow this lead.

If you don''t like it, fly an LCC, eg WN, B6, FL, et al...

Re: United Airlines to require minimum stays from Oct.

Business people tend to buy more flexible fares, so they are less likely to be affected by this. From what I've read, it's only the cheaper fare classes that will be affected.

This is just a reversion back through history where tickets were return not one way.

Perhaps one way tickets are the way. In Australia, the cheapest of the cheap seem to be the same whether one books one way or return except that credit card fees would be added twice if doing 2 one ways.
