SYD-ADL-MEL-SYD in one day

So my first post here on Frequentflyer. Thougth I'd start off with a little trip and then put some of the interesting ones on. Sorry no pics for this one. Should get into the habit of doing it next time!

Saturday 9th Feb
QF 81
SYD-ADL
Dep 1105 Act 1135
Arr 1245 Act 1310
24G
After parking in the longterm carpark the bus took forever moving through the bus lane at T1. Busses were double parked all the way along the road. Checked in at 9.45am at the buisness counters. No lines at all and made my way to the QP where the remains of breakfast was still on offer
Boarding started on time although we waited 25mins for a conecting passenger. With some wild weather around sydney, we took off to the south and had a bumpy 20mins to start off with. Things settled down and the quick snack service began. Choice of a Orange muffin or cookies. I grabbed the cookies along with an apple and a sprite.

Settled into flicking through the avod system. Watched the last half of Superbad. Pretty funny movie. Anyways started our decent into adelaide. Seemed like the guys upfront were testing those side controllers again as we were rolling and pitching a lot untill late final appr. Managed to get off fast and 1st through customes and into a taxi for the 15min drive to town and my meeting.

Arr 1910 Act Arr 1859

After racing back into the QP just before 5, managed to grab a quick byte to eat and a nice coopers pale ale on tap. Boarding was called at around 1710 and we were pushing back a little before 1720. Flight looked around 2/3 full so plenty of seats around. Scored a whole row to myself. Again just a snack served on this flight Spicy Tomato salsa and rice crackers were ok. A little messy when the rice crackers are so small, and I mean $2 coin size. Most including myself had just a few goes at the salsa before giving up just for the crakers by themselves. Managed to catch up on some work for the rest of the flight. Flew through some heavy weather into Melbourne. Headed to the QP for a quick drink or two and send off some emails.

ARR 2120 Act 2125

Boarding was very quick. In fact by the time we all made it to the gate from the QP the signs were saying flight closed! I’d say only 1/3 full if that but we were all spread throughout the plane probably due to weight and balance. Again a little bit of weather till around 10K ft then it was smooth sailing all the way. Dinner on this leg was Chicken and Vege Korma. Just ok, your typical cityflyer meal. Managed to watch some of “So who’s line is it anyway”. Just before Top of Decent the captain came on saying that atc wanted us to slow down to fit us in the queue into Sydney. Flew in over campbeltown then a nice big right turn over homebush and laded on 16R. Waited around 20mins for the shuttle back to the longterm carpark.

I can relate to the mess. Coming home from YUL through JFK, LAX and SYD after 40 hours with delays, I picked up the spicy salsa and tipped it straight down my new pinstripe shirt. Was a bit peeved at the time but now I'm over the sleep deprivation, it's pretty funny. Not very practical for a flight in whY.

Thanks again for sharing your flights.

Out of interest - why the routing back via MEL? Availability or a mileage run ?

Yes I'd question that also. The last ADL fight on a Sat departs at 1740 and you can usually swing a cat on flights ex ADL on a Sat night , so a cheap tkt shouldnt have been the issue. If in doubt and you dont have and you dont have any bags ask a staffer ...is there any reason I may have been booked on this via MEL flight.....this has worked for me to get put on a similar departing non-stop in the past

Depends on how desperate you are for Miles and SC earnings.
