leaving for the USA tomorrow on a 744 and returning on 23rd on a 388 (unfortunately in Economy) so it will be interesting to compare and i will try to post some photos here on my return.
Why oh why does every seat I prefer have to be the infant restraint one. I like being in the "IS" seats because you have no one behind you and it feels like you're in a corner which I love. I don't mind not being able to put my seat fully back, it usually goes back a bit anyway. Hopefully if I get on the bird they will let me have one of the IS seats.Am I missing something with the IS seats? I flew on a Malaysian Airlines flight and got 26K and loved it.. SeatGuru Seat Map Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200 (772) Is it the same space behind for all these seats.

As a parent, you are supposed to call Qantas prior to travelling to get the car seat 'authorised' and to get the proper seat allocation. The authorisation asks about 10 questions about the type of car seat you are taking. You can't rock up at the airport anymore and expect to just take the carseat on board. This should at least remove any last minute chances of being booted from an IS seat.
Gosh I would hate to be schlepping a kid, carseat and handluggage around LAX!!
If my expereince is anything to go by... I would assume yes privided the parents are pre-requesting the seats. If they just turn up at check in from what i guess you should not loose them, I have a number of times onbaord been asked if i would mind moving for a baby to take advantage of the cots or IS seats, in all cases i was offered a free row or an upgrade so who is to complain.
