Re: US Airport passenger screenings to be reviewed

Umm since when have you been allowed to carry scissors? I thougth they were prohibited? Or is it just in the Australian backwater where we can't even be trusted with a metal knife?

He noted that the TSA has periodically eased security procedures, most notably in late 2005 when it began letting passengers carry small tools and scissors on airplanes. He said any changes won't reduce security and could be offset by "things we might make tougher.

Re: US Airport passenger screenings to be reviewed

I'm sitting and waiting for a flight from MCO to BOS at the moment, and MCO has an interesting (and if it were properly applied) effective way of streamlining security.

They have three channels, one for families and those needing assistance, one for normal travellers and one for expert fliers. Each on has an appropriate level of assitance.

It falls down when the queues reconnect after initial screening. So rather than getting a fast lane, where everybody knows what to take off etc you get families and kids infiltrating the expert queue.

Nevertheless it works pretty well.
