Thumbs up Rex Reduces Fuel Surcharge

Although Rex is always very quick to increase fuel surcharge, it is good to know that they are just as quick to decrease it.

Noticed this release on their website ...

Quote:
Regional Express (Rex) has responded to the recent fall in global oil prices by announcing that the airline will decrease its fuel surcharge by $4.00 (including GST) per sector effective on all sales from 1 August 2008. This will see Rex’s fuel surcharge decrease to $40.00 per sector.

Rex General Manager, Network Strategy and Sales, Mr Warrick Lodge said, “One of Rex’s key strategies has been to make fares more affordable. In FY08 Rex’s average ticket price inclusive of the fuel levy was some 15% lower than it was in FY03, despite oil prices increasing by more than 400% over this 6 year period.

“Rex will continue to monitor the price of fuel and respond with appropriate changes to the fuel surcharge as and when necessary,” Mr Lodge said.

The fuel surcharge decrease is also applicable to Rex’s subsidiary airline, Air Link.

Good on them. Will be interesting to see how quick they would be to rise it, *if* prices do rise again.

Re: Rex Reduces Fuel Surcharge

Good to see that someone has reduced fuel surcharges as the price of crude oil has been falling recently.
