A dodgy circuit has been blamed for the jet engine shutdown on a new Jetstar Airbus A330 four hours into the flight.

Has the report on this incident just been released ?If not my first question would be why run this article now?

I don't think it is a Qantas bashing incident as such, more of a drawing links to the supposed reputation of the A330 after AF447.

I think that quote sums it up perfectly on why this article was written now.

Post Engine malfunction caused Jetstar emergency

Wow, someone is going out of their way to dig up old stories to publish regarding Jetstar and A330 aircraft. This one in the news media today references a July 2007 incident!

    From news.com.au:

AN engine malfunction forced a Jetstar plane into an emergency landing in Indonesia in 2007, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau has found.

The Airbus A330-200 was carrying more than 300 passengers from Bangkok to Melbourne when it diverted to Bali's Denpasar airport on July 23, 2007.

It's because the ATSB report was released yesterday (even if the ATSB website lists the release date as before the incident actually happened).

Ahh, so that is why the media's attention was drawn to this old incident. The report I linked from news.com.au mentions the report but not that it was just released. Interesting timing. I see these have been merged (by serfty I assume, thanks).
