I will be going to Indonesia shortly and didnt want to rely on my ANZ travel insurance ( platinum card) cos I cant say I v happy with it.

Can anyone recommend other travel insurance to me? I did buy my ticket on my ANZ card - would that conflict?

    Thanks

    Raz

There should be no conflict as long as you only make any claim on only the one policy.

Check out both the following two online insurances for quotes. (also compare the PDS for each as well).
Note that AFF gold members get a 20% discount with the latter.

If you are covered by the Plat card travel insurance why would you need more? Is it that bad? I'd look at getting another credit card if that's the case as one of the few benefits I see of these expensive cards is the travel insurance.

Agreed. When I had my CBA Plat card the 1:1 FF to award point ratio and the comp travel insurance were the only 2 reasons I had it. Otherwise I'd have had a cheaper annual fee card for sure. The only thing it didn't cover to a reasonable level by default was injury through terrorist act - but good luck finding that in any standard TI policy these days. It's only available as an added cost option AFAIK. Things like Hire Car damage excess, etc were all covered as standard on CBA's Plat card policy. What more do you require?

    Cheers

I just booked using Medibank (Underwritten by Allianz and managed by Mondial Assistance) and the rip off bastards charged me $165 for seven days! (Two people)

    "$165 for seven days"

    Assuming UK/Asia
    • TID - $122 (Allianz)
    • CDI - $110 (Lloyd's)

Just looked at the certificate of currency and it says "Worldwide"

We're going to North America... I might look at that TID mob, I forgot about them but have seen some billboards recently around the place...

    Re: Travel Insurance

I rang several Travel insurance agents and they all advised me that should I need to make a claim then I have to go to ANZ travel insurnce first regardless of the fac that I have purchased their travel insurance.

This is becos the claim form says do you have any other travel insurance and since I have bought my ticket on my cc I will have to go to them first.and only if they refused me could I claim with them

I must add that all of them were willing to sell me their insurance and did not dislcose the above facts to me at first. Only after I kept questioning
did they say that they would not allow my claim.

My mum booked her ticket and paid with a gold card and then the TA (FC) gave her the hard sell on insurance. She was only going to Canada (not USA at all) and it was going to be $1500 or so for two months! I told her to tell 'em to stick it!

I can highly recommend Travel Insurance Direct from personal experience. It may not be the cheapest travel insurance policy available but the claim processing is very efficient.
