Hi.
With the imminent demise of my EzyBanking card, I am looking at switching. I was considering earth+, until I read their insurance terms and conditions. The other card I am considering is Citibank Gold.
I tried to call Citibank to get them to send me their PDS for their travel insurance after not finding it on their website, but the girl said she could only provide it after I'd signed up for the card (wtf... how am I supposed to determine if it is worth getting if they won't tell me).
I would appreciate if people could provide their opinions on Citibank's travel insurance, or if they can provide a link to the product PDS. I am particularly interested in their terms and conditions re rental of motorcycles. My usual (purchased) travel insurance covers me for upto $5000 rental excess, plus medical etc as long as you are licensed in Australia, and have an IDP (if required). earth+ doesn't cover rental excess for motorcycles, and limits the capacity to 200cc for all other claims.
I would also be interested in any limitations re snowboarding.
Alternativly, if you can recommend another card (pref visa/mc) with decent earn rates for QFFPs and a not too high annual fee, I'd be all ears.
Otherwise, I'll probably just get earth, and continue to buy insurance on a per trip basis (I usually make 1-3 int trips/year).
Thanks for your advice!

Just out of interest, what issues did you pick up with the Earth+? I've recently gotten rid of all of my cards and am going to stick with the Earth+ MC/AMEX and I thought the insurance seems ok.
That said, I don't trust credit card travel insurance. If I'm in an accident overseas I'd feel a lot better having the travel insurance letter on my person to give to someone at a hospital, rather than hoping they'll be happy with me saying "my American Express card will cover it"
Beware the excess, I've been caught once and will not rely on 'free' insurance again.
Does the Travel Insurance have an upper age limit or additional premiums?
They'll insure my 80 yr old father no problems. NAB gold visa has an age limit of 75 but citi insurance is through zurich not american life.Originally Posted by johnmc
