Opinion for upgrade?

Hi, due to recent amex promotion, i am able to get a few points for my flight.

i hardly ever travel, mostly i fly between adelaide <-> shanghai/nanjing.

now, since singapore air is doing promotions atm, i have considered upgrade in the first time of my life.

some basic information:

adelaide to nanjing return

1: on economy: 41250 points + ~620 dollars for tax
2: on business: 67500 points + ~620 dollars for tax

now is this extra 26250 points worth the upgrades?

i have never fly in business class before, so what can i expect?

also considered the aircraft, which business class is better between b777-200 and airbus 330-300

furthermore, is there headsup in the business class? ie better seat selection? etc

any infomation are welcome. thanks in advance



woo, i just did a quick test booking, economy flight price is about 1700 while business is around 5500.

but this price is a bit inflated, since qantas to shanghai return is about 1100 atm.

Take the A330-300 (333). It has the best regional business class seat around. This trip report (Experiencing SQ's new Regional J on the A330-300) goes over the differences.

regarding airbus 330, it only available in the leg of from singapore to adelaide.

other trips are all on b777-200

what about lounge access? am i entitle to any? especially at adelaide and nanjing?

from singaporeair website, it seems to suggest there is a lounge open for business or first class passengers, but it doesn't have any opening time or access limits etc.

Diesmile, once you upgrade it is tough to go back. And definitely worth it, imo.

ya i guess, but since i am a tightarus i won't pay for it with cash, that's certain.
