I was going to venture to say that they have managed to snag a few more points transfered to them, a lot of card were already direct earn so no changes there, and those that were not i would have guessed a fair % wend to QF direct earn, i don't believe us as a group is even slightly representative of what joe bloggs general public will do.

And as for transfering points, i kept all my Amex points in my account and i can do it later (plat chg) or as i use most of my Amex points for SQ or starwood. But regardless if that i agree with you belief that that should not dominate the market in a forceful way, sure if its by peoples choice thats different but you know when your the biggest boy in town you can afford to be a bit arrogant and just tell people its my way or not at all. Sometimes it works. For QF in the case i think it worked well enough, not nearly as good as it could have been but good enough i would guess.

I also believe Qantas has failed to meet the targets of their credit card loyalty point snatching attempt.

One of the effects is that we are now seeing credit card companies offering co-branded cards with overseas airlines and this will make the Qantas branded cards seem less attractive.

As for my Amex MR points I think they are much better off in Amex MR account for use at a later time. Qantas will continue to get the Qantas spend on the Amex Qantas Premium card until the annual fee is due in January. No fee waiver on the Amex Qantas Premium and all spend goes back into Amex Gold card.

Now that AA has one-way rewards, I just want to see an Amex AA card with 1:1 / even 2:3 and I will be there with bells on...

I would think that such cards might exist. Maybe not Amex, though.

Just move to the US and become a citizen. (Gotcha!)

The other alternative is to get an Amex SPG card. The catch is, though, you can't get it in this country. (Gotcha again!)
