Hi,
I keep on hearing about Qantas's changes to their FFP after
May 2008.
Can some kind soul please point me to an announcement.
I'm an Expat in U.S. and am left out of the loop.
But I do have 96K points and plan to use it soon (Nov 2008)
for a return trip back home from SFO.

This is an interesting thread http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/comm...nts-12052.html (Changes to QF upgrade points)
Will put in a bad post report in the hope our estemmed Moderators can move this thread to the QF Forum where it belongs
I agree. Not much ambiguity, so I have moved to QFF forum.Originally Posted by Mwenenzi

I am hopeful that various in-the-know posters on AFF will keep us all informed of changes. I am assuming that any "enhancements" likely to have a negative FF effect will need to be communicated 6 months prior to the effective change. Given my assumption of February change notifications, I have booked my July International flights; current FF terms/conditions had a significant impact on my purchase decision, so I am hopeful not to be disappointed.
About the only that is known in the public domain at the moment is that Qantas plans to make some changes that will take affect sometime around the middle of the year. We know they usually provide 6 months notice of any major changes.
They have also suggested they will include the ability to use FF points to redeem flights even if the regular award seats are not available (at additional points cost of course). Just how this will work has not yet been published, but we can speculate that QF will apply some monetary value to the points as they apply against the available fares at the time.
We have already seen a few recent changes around the introduction of Premium Economy and how that has affected upgrades and flight awards.
As far as I know, all other aspects of the changes are speculation at the moment.

Certainly plenty of speculation; most indications are that changes are to be announced in February, coming into effect six months later - sometime in August.
On that basis, we will probably know within 30 days!

Per another post I made.
As described to financial community in the HY results.
No changes to the existing reward program and seat availability on QF, JQ and oneworld partners.
Additional choice of rewards on QF/JQ with points required for rewards based on lowest available ticket cost.
From what I hear within the industry
* Travel on any seat at a 25- 50% premium in miles and be subject to seasonality. So a 96k trip to LAX could now be 110k in Low Season and 130k in Peak Season (economy) but with more seats available
* 96k rewards will still be available but even less availability than before and still be non-seasonal
It will be a two tiered system.
A. Want to book a week / month and have more seats available then pay the increased miles
B. Want to book a year out with even less seats available then nothing has changed
This is all I heard in economy. For J and F where fares are non-seasonal (except for Christmas / New Year special when less corp biz is done) it's just an increase in miles required with more seats made available.
Program is still being tweaked and market researched through QFF'ers
Good Luck
An overall increase in U and Z inventory would be a good thing for Aadvantage members!Originally Posted by AlphaVictor
