What happens if you don't make Platinum again?

Due to a change of job I rarely fly QF because they book close to travel time and take the cheapest fares. I am already on the "grace" year of Platinum because I fell 100 credits short in January - they asked me to provide an expected flight schedule and I did which meant they extended my Platinum status for another 12 months.

Currently I have 90 status credits so I have no chance of making the requirement for Platinum or even Gold next renewal. Will I go immediately down to Bronze/Silver level as I have been told you only move down one FF level each year you don't make the required points. Given my situation though I'm not expecting any favours

I'm hoping I will be able to buy QC membership with no joining fee when I drop down to lower status - I joined 4 years ago but since have been Gold or Platinum so haven't had to pay for renewal.

Thanks for any advice.

As long as you have 4 QF flights in this membership year you will spend the year at gold... then you will be sent to silver at which time if they still do what happens today it seems you will be offered 3 months of QP access and you have the option to renew without joining fee it seems.

You go back one level at a time.

Thanks guys appreciate the info. Now I just need the company to get better organised so QFs are competitive and I might retain Gold

If you do not make the 4 QF flights for the year do you lose all status or do you still only drop down one level?

Is this new?

Didnt think this 4 sector rule extended to maintaining status in a soft landing.

Sorry can't confirm as a fact, only repeating what i have heard apparently has happened to somebody on FT.
But would be wise to try for 4 sectors i would think if its possible and it sounds like it could be for the OP.

This gradual drop WP->SG->PS->NB is termed a 'soft landing'.

As for the four segments and a soft-landing , I am not aware anyone has posted experiences on this having < 4 segments.

Re: What happens if you don't make Platinum again?

I guess if you are WP or SG, then 4 segments isnt gonna be an issue if your actively trying to make the status again.

But it would really really suck if I actively avoided travel to the point of not having 4 segments and not falling back to SG.

Re: What happens if you don't make Platinum again?

Hi All

Having traveled only 2 segments in the previous year
I have been bumped down from partner gold to ps, but the interesting thing is my profile now says ( Qantas Club Silver)?
