Upgrade priority Econ vs Prem Econ to Business

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows whether International upgrades of Premium Economy -> Business take priority over Economy -> Business and if so - does this override FF status priorities.

For example
Will Silver FF upgrading from PE -> Business take priority over Platinum Econ -> Business

Any insights welcome!

Qantas tell me there is no priority, but I find this hard to believe.

I had booked seat 1A MEL-SIN, but being a lowly Silver (unlike your good self), upon bearding I found magically moved!!

The annoying thing with the new upgrade system, is that if you buy an economy and put in for an upgrade - you have to choose between Premium Econ and Business. If you are denied, they do not let you put in for the other.

Flying SIN-MEL, I missed out on a point upgrade to Premium Econ (as it was full), while Business was half empty!! Thank God for sleeping pills!

I don't think that has anything to do with the upgrade system per se.

How new is this? Until last week you were able to request both at the same time. If you didn't get Business, then you'd go into the pool for PE...

Yes you can. When requesting for an upgrade ,

you can request for PE only
you can request for Business only
you can request for Business in preference but PE as a backup
