    Hi All,

First time in this forum so hope one of you experts out there can explain what QF status credits mean? How do they work & what do they give you (if anything)? You retain them for one year is that correct? Can you use them to upgrade from economy to business?

    Cheers and many thanks!

They last 1 year from your "anniversary" date of when you join.

Even though they get reset, a lifetime counter is kept so you can work towards loyalty bonuses and Lifetime silver and lifetime gold.

    Check this link out Answer

(If it doesn't work, go to Help - FAQs (Page 1 of 77) and type Status Credits and it should be the first link.

Status credits can't be used for anything. They are simply a mechanism for determining what status level you have within QFF.
    Air: QFF Gold (LTS)
Hotel: A|Club: Gold, PC Plat, Hyatt GP: Plat, HH: Silver, SPG: Gold
Car: Avis preferred, Hertz #1 Club Gold

The entry level to the QF frequent flyer program is bronze. The more paid flights you have within the year from the entry date the greater number of status credits you acquire. Past a certain level you progress to silver status which has greater benefits compared to bronze. Even more status credits within the year will see you progress to gold status and finally platinum. These two levels of status allow you complementary membership of the Qantas Club while you retain either gold or platinum status. If you continue to accrue SCs within a 12 month period you may also achieve gold status for your partner. As was mentioned in an earlier post the clock winds back to zero on the anniversary of your membership, but your status credits are recorded for the purposes of lifetime silver or gold membership. LTS requires 7000 SCs. I have about 4000 SCs and should reach lifetime silver when I am about 140 but some really frequent flyers already have lifetime gold. You can read all about this in the frequent flyer pages on the qantas website:

Please note: don't confuse status credits with frequent flyer points. You earn FF points with every paid flight (minimum 1000 per flight on QF) and also with other transactions e.g. in some credit card loyalty schemes. You cannot earn status credits through credit card spending.

Just imagine Status Credits as if they are brownie points you earn when you do good things with your partner

Its like Qantas, the more you fly with them (or their OW friends) - Qants likes you more - you acheive more SC's - and if you earn enough, will reward you with elite member benefits.

And every anniversary, Qantas acts lke you forgot to buy flowers and wipes all the brownie points away!
