Re: QF club question
BTW, welcome to AFF notsohappyhoward, you chose a pretty controversial question for your first post (as you may have guessed from the replies! ). Hope you stick around and read/contribute to many other threads.

dont you think after 10 letters over 15 years qantas should acknowledge that they are not giving me complimentary yearly membership because of my status as a frequent flyer,
Is this a question? It reads like one, but there is no question mark at the end.
In any case - do you hold Gold or Platinum frequent flyer status? If so, then your QANTAS club membership *is* complimentary. When you first made Gold QANTAS would have sent you a letter saying that your existing Club membership is suspended, until such time as you drop below Gold status.
If you don't hold Gold or Platinum status, then "yes", it's a bit odd about the letter. But in either case, you get access to the lounge. Just throw the letters away.

Why do you think they stopped selling life membership, they obviously cannot handle lifemembers that are frequent flyers.
No - I think they did this on financial reasons. Not because there are people who fly and are life members. Presumably everyone who is a life member is also a frequent flyer (or at least a member of the FF program - the membership is free when you join the club, and what would be the point of joining the QANTAS club if you didn't fly?)
Maybe I am being obtuse but after 15 years suely Qantas should stop conratulating me on my status credits and the fact I have acheived either platinum or Gold membership which gives me complimentary qantas club membership WHEN I PAID FOR IT,and to make matters wortse when on 10 occasions I have asked can I transfer the complimentary membership to a partner the only answer I get is under the terms and conditions NO
but "thanks for the feedback"
I am sorry but this is awful what is complimentary if i paid for it and if my life membership is "suspended" why do I get no benefit. I thought the whole idea of loyalty programs was you got benefits,in my case for 15 years if i had not joined the qantas club as a life memeber I would have received 4500 worth of benefits .
Instead I have recived nothing except for 10 letters saying thank you for your feedback.
My complaint is specifically i get no benefit from paying for qantas club life membership.
Why did you pay for Qantas Club life membership? What were your expectations when you paid for it?
I did not bother paying for Qantas Club membership because I felt it was a waste of money. I still think it is a waste of money unless you travel often enough to make it worthwhile? I now have complimentary lounge access based on status. Lounge access in nice but it is not the end all and be all of travel nor the highlight of a trip.

Paying for membership is irrelevant. You, like everyone else, get complimentary membership upon reaching QF Gold or Platinum status. Would you feel better if QF stopped handing out complimentary lounge access with Gold and Platinum status?

The simple answer is Qantas are not right in sending me a letter saying its complimentary .
Hi nshh, and welcome to AFF.
I can appreciate that you are trying to nitpick the language that QF has used, but it should be clear that the consensus opinion is:
a) QF is right to say you have been given complimentary membership - the fact that you have previously paid for it is irrelevant. You now have a right to membership from 2 separate sources ie paid and status. No QFF members can pick and choose which benefits of status they want to use themselves, and which they want to gift to others.
b) Even if they were not right, the choice of language they used in this case is so unimportant that no-one cares, either on AFF or, apparently, in QF customer service.
c) Use of punctuation and grammar will help others to understand the point you wish to make.
