    QF - 15 SC & 1300 points for 10 bucks?

This is another of those times where the domestic multi trip bookings throw out some bizarre prices.....

The background: was looking for a cheap way to get back from Cairns in mid August having booked flights for the other 6 in the party in the recent Jetstar 2-for-1 sale. Also had a $200 Qantas voucher to use as it was due to expire, so I'd be flying back on QF whilst the others get Jet*

Looking at the QF site, a one way between CNS and BNE in the "Explore Australia" sale is $209, (pretty damned expensive when return fares for the other 6 came in at $700 on JQ). That's 15 SC and 1700 points for a WP.

BUT, playing around with the domestic multi-trip tool I found that, in true AFF style, if I booked CNS-TSV-BNE it was $164, or CNS-TSV-ROK-BNE it priced up at $219! 30 SC and 3000 points for just 10 dollars extra compared to flying direct.
So it'll be a couple of firsts for me in one trip. First time to Rockhampton & Townsville - 2 more QPs to tick off the list, and first (second and third!) time on a Crash-8.

Incidentally, the QF CSR I booked the flight with was a little dubious about my plan, and tried to persuade me go direct CNS-BNE

Have you checked the flight numbers? You may have booked the milk run from CNS and you will only have enough time to disembark and then reboard at TSV or ROK. More than likely you will stay on the aircraft and no time to visit the Qantas Lounge.

    Not quite right.

It does not matter that it is the same flight number as long as the sectors are appearing individually on the itinerary it will credit separately. I had CNS-TSV-MKY-ROK-BNE credit with 40SCs and 4,000 QFF points. I would expect 2muchplastic will receive 30SCs and 3,000 QFF points for the CNS-TSV-ROK-BNE flight. If it was booked as a through flight CNS-BNE then it will only credit for the one sector not the individual sectors.

Of course, happy to be wrong on this. Should have thought about it a bit longer before posting have edited previous post.

JohnK, they're definitely separate flight numbers with >3 hours and 2 hours between the flights. More than enough time for a swift beer in the QP.
I'm in no real rush to get home, so breakfast, lunch and dinner will be courtesy of QF.
Medhead, when I worked the itinerary out online first before ringing, it definitely said that 3000 points would be winging my way
