'ALIEN',

The way you have structured your above post, suggests to me, that you are currently working for Qantas, in such a capacity, that you are authorised to promote the company's activities.

Is this correct?

I ask this because, many of us post information on this site.... that Qantas may take some offense to. They may even consider some 'points related' activity / advice to be against the rules of the QFF program.

What can you say about this?

regards,

I agree, it is probably just a cut&paste of either a press release or an email.

If you analyse the fares the combined fare of the normal and companion fares is the same total as 2 normal fares with other airlines.
They are just charging more for the full fare to compensate for the companion fare.
So it is just an attempt by Qantas to trick fools into thinking it is a good offer, which will not fool anyone on this site, I hope!

But do those fares on other carriers carry the same perks of QP access, FF points and SC's?

I for one will usually be travelling alone, so will not be taking up the companion fare offer.

But as far as cheaper fares go, I don't always go for the cheapest. On domestic, I sometimes find Vermin to be $30 cheaper than QF for equivalent flight times. Big deal, I can drink more than that in HP's at the QP prior to departure (and on arrival, if the timings are right) - plus I get SC's and points to add to it.

There is much more to the bigger picture than price alone. Timings are a case in point. You *might* be able to get a flight which is $200 cheaper, but on an airline which only flies twice a week (just an example).

There are other considerations than just price alone.

Why is it the 24 or 48 hour sales always come out when I am travelling and not accessing email or internet?

Re: Qantas Birthday Sale! 50% off companion airfares

Kristo is not actually correct. I just got through buying tickets for my trip to London in May and the Qantas fare was over $500 lower than any other airline.

I checked out the Qantas site as well as online travel agencies Expedia, Jetabroad and Best Flights. They all were showing the sale fare.

I ended up buying the tickets from Jetabroad as their fare for 4 people of $7006 was actually cheaper than Qantas' own site???
