I am in J for both flights, but somehow I don't think my connection will make it....

Iain, I assume you were booked on QF501 not QF601. QF501 shows as departing 8:08am and arriving SYD at 9:35am.

QF45 is showing as departed at 8:48am, so you certainly missed that one. JQ143 SYD-CHC is showing as being delayed for estimated departure of 9:25. So unless they delay the JQ flight another hour or so, you may have a long wait in SYD or end up routing via AKL or on NZ or something like that.

I got very lucky with my flight from MEL-LTN a couple of weeks ago as the fog was well and truly sticking around the airport

interestingly I was booked with tiger in the afternoon, after passing up earlier flights with Jetstar/Virgin Blue (we had flown in the night before internationally so I figured sleep was good)

Hit the virgin lounge before my flight and there were so many people delayed, including passengers who were meant to have flown out at 7am and were still there at 1pm

I think I managed to get the only flight not affected - it was on time leaving and even arrived early!
