Maximising SC's Mel-Ord in J

Currently my sister is a lowly Bronze FF but is heading to ORD in November via QF in J for 2 weeks. Her requalification date is 31 December 2008.
I am currently looking at maximising her SC's from a trans tasman flight better than the 600 odd you would normally get travelling MEL-LAX-ORD return in J on QF metal.
Your suggestions are most welcome and there is no problem "bouncing" around various locations. Many thanks

You'd find a DONE4 quite competitively priced, even an ex-Oz, relative to a point to point Oz-USA return.

Thanks Keith, I was unsure wether ex Asia was a better go. What is the easiest way for her to book this in Australia given she is open to suggestions rather than having a fixed route?

Even a DCIR22 at a base cost ex Oz of AUD9299 may be worth considering. (A DONE4 is $10999)

e.g. MEL-LAX-ORD-NRT-MEL is 21,000 miles and earns 560/600 SC's.

... or do it from SYD with a separate MEL/SYD r/t ticket for $200: SYD-LAX-DFW-JFK-ORD-NRT-SYD for 810 SC's.

If she ends up doing a DONE4, Anchorage is a brilliant little SC earner if you can get First class availability (very difficult). 300 SC's for DFW-ANC-DFW alone.

(It's a nice place too...I can recommend hiring a car and spending a few days there.)

Cheers,
- Febs.

Just make sure you take your passport! Funny story. I was at the counter at LGA checking into my DFW-ANC flight. Lady behind the counter says "Passport please". I was a bit confused as I knew it wasn't necessary, but whatever, ID is ID, so I showed her.

"When are you returning to the United States?"

"Umm, sorry?"

"From Canada. When are you returning to the US from Canada?"

"Umm...I'm going to Alaska."

"Yes, and..."

"...and Alaska is IN the United States!!"

"...oh, right, of course, silly me!"
