Is A380 J the new F?

Earlier today I sampled for the first time the new Business seats from the QF A380 (not airborne sadly, but as part of the Qantas business show thingie in Canberra), and I was very impressed with the recline and general size of the seat.

Part of my justification for flying First is the proper lie-flat seat, which allows me to get a decent rest and be ready to work as soon as the flight lands. With the new Business seating in the A380 it appears that I could probably be just as comfortable in those seats than the First seating in a 747.

With the ground-side experience exactly the same for a WP, and not a huge difference in the food & wines between J and F (except maybe the Dom Perignon...), has Business class on the A380 become a viable alternative (at a cheaper price) to the 747 First service we are used to?

Has anyone else formed a similar conclusion or am I just making this up?

Re: Is A380 J the new F?

I too was there today and had a sit in the first class seat. It went flat etc and seemed fine, but if it was an accurate representation then give me J any day.

The little leg room available immediately in front of you was quite off putting to me.

I have slept quite well in the A330-200 J not quite flat bed and will more than likely do so on the 747 J not quite flat bed again next week.

Yes I could see many people taking J with the comfort level it will offer. Not that taking F on my dollar will ever be an option so sleeping well in J will always be welcome.
