I have Cathay flights, can I use the lounge if Plat member?

Hi,

I have just booked my holiday to HK flying Cathay Pacific (non QF flight number). Being a QFF Plat Member can I still check in via First Class and use the first class lounge?

And do I use the Qantas lounge or Cathay lounges if i have access?

And I am not a Cathay FF member.

Just curious.

Cheers,

Splunk

QC access

Hi Splunk!

If I believe this website:

http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying...s/loungeAccess

Then the answer is yes.

Plats can enter the QC at any time... whether they are flying or not.

Also check out:

http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying...ations#lounges

Based on that you should also be able to enter the Cathay Pacific lounge

Splunk.

All of your questions are answered on the Qantas site.

http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/...ivileges#jump4

will give you the answers you require.

I'll even give you a quick summary.

Check in normal queue, business queue or first queue. You have the right no matter which OneWorld airline you are flying.

Use any OneWorld lounge before your flight. I would strongly recommend that you skip the Qantas HK one and use the Cathay one instead.

Thanks!

I had already read the guides :P

My main concern was because it was not a QF flight. I thought that I could only use the lounge etc if I was it was code share.

Thanks guys.

Because your flight is a OneWorld Flight Number (CX) and OneWorld Operated flight (CX), you can use any OneWorld F or J lounge since you have OneWorld Emerald status.

As a OneWorld Emerald status holder, you can use the CX F check-in as well.

But when you return home, be sure to check out the CX lounges (The Wing near gate 2 or The Pier near gate 62) at HKG. They are far better than the QF/BA lounge at HKG.

The significant benefit of having "status" with the oneworld alliance is that your status is recognised across ALL the member airlines. Yep, you can access the First class lounges.

You will experience the best lounge in the world in Hong Kong - Cathay's Wing and Pier lounges set the benchmark. Take a look at their web site to get a taste of what's in store. http://www.cathaypacific.com/intl/ai...es/0,,,00.html

If you're on hoidays, it will be worthwhile going on an empty stomach and a few hours early!

Even CX's economy class has video on demand - you watch what you want, when you want while being able to rewind if you miss something (or fall asleep), pause for a pee break etc.

In Sydney, the CX food and beverage tends to be better than QF - and you'll get a boarding call...

Huh? Doesn't CX use the Qantas Club in SYD?

I don't think CX has AVOD in Economy (yet). I believe some of their newly delivered aircrafts (e.g. A333) have AVOD in all classes, but disabled it in Y for consistency across all aircrafts in the fleet. F and J have AVOD though.
