How early does Checkin counter at Bkk open for QF?
Just doing some forward planning for a trip next year. After attending a conference in Bangkok, I plan to take a week off and explore the local region, using Air Asia's ridiculously cheap airfares. To factor in delays, I'll be arriving back in BKK with plenty of spare time for my flight back to Sydney at 1725.
I note the QP at BKK opens at 1300...does anyone know what time the QF checkin counters open? around 1300 as well??
If so, that should tie in well with my plans to arrive back at BKK at 1145 (assuming no delays), and pick up a bag at the left baggage counter (noting AK's stirct 15kg checked baggage limit).

In May I took BA9 BKK to SYD- scheduled 18:10. I was surprised to find the QF/BA Check-in was open when I arrived at 2:15pm. I had been expecting a short wait. I was in the lounge by 2:35. (This was a Saturday)

I really struggled to find the lounge as well. I went down the wrong piers, was directed in the wrong direction by airport and security staff and then walked the wrong way down the pier it's on anyway. Maybe signage has improved since April but it wasn't the easiest to find for a BKK newbie.

I have been to the new BKK airport many times now so I know roughly where mosts things I need are located.
Anyway when I checked in last week for my return flight I was reminded which concourse the lounge was located. Easy to follow the signs to the correct concourse and from there it is one level down. No more than a 5 minute walk, unless side tracked, once through outbound immigration.
Location: Home, Work, Airport, Here (not in that order!)

Similar case to me. Check-in gave me the right instructions (basically turn right after immigration, head down a level etc) but I turned left and got totally lost in the concourses on the correct floor. Couldn't find any real signage to the lounge until I retraced my steps and turned right and walked quite a distance. It would have been nice to have a sign as soon as I walked through Immigration to guide me correctly.
The information computers are pretty useless, and like I indicated above, I feel that the signage at the airport is completely useless. Airport lounges are not signposted - they just use a generic sign for all directions to lounges. I agree with other comments about how much walking is involved at the airport!
Anyways, after all that got an op-up to F on BA from the friendly lounge staff, so thankful for their assistance
You can indentify the lounge location on the map on this page: (Level 3 - meetings)
The map does not appear to have been updated since the QF/BA lounges at Suvarnabhumi Airport were opened.
The old Loui's Tavern Business lounge is represented on the map with the only TeePee symbol on concourse G.
The actual QF/BA J lounge is located below that TeePee symbol in the area marked VIP. The First lounge is across on the opposite side of the the concourse with the entrance roughly where "-G5" is.
