Question Getting 3.4 guests into the QC lounge?

Given the amount of annoyance I've seen/heard in the lounge lately when it's crowded I may not make myself popular by asking but in 3 years of Gold & Platinum status level I've had one guest on one trip. So...

I'm travelling with my wife (Bronze FF), 2 friends and their 3 year old daughter out of BNE next weekend. We just want to have some breakfast before we leave and use the comfy chairs during any delay if it eventuates.

Should I just be up front and ask nicely at the counter if I can invite 3 guests (I assume the 3 year old isn't counted?) or be dodgy and give my boarding pass to my friend and use my card to go in separately with my wife as guest? It's the old dilemna - be honest and risk getting turned down or be underhanded and probably have more chance of success. What have others experienced?

Thanks for any advice.

Your traveling domestic i assume ?
Since if international they will expect you have a boarding pass... sure i know you dont need to present it but it is a question they may ask.
If domestic i think you know what to do....

Sorry omitted that info, yes flying domestic. So I read the rules on the Qantas site as each Platinum member can invite 2 guests into the lounge, none of whom are necessarily travelling on airlines?

Cheers.

monojoker,

I would ring ahead and ask nicely. If it's going to be a quiet time then they may well let you all in. Even if they say no you could then always as at the door.

I would not swap BP's and cards as the consequences are potentially greater
than any risk I'm prepared to take. ... and it's dishonest

Since straitman thinks its better not to be dodgy you could always do what he says, If all are flying and holding boarding passes that helps, its not like your guesting in non flyers.

I once gave my wife my card and they confiscated it from her and sent it back to me in a letter together with a reminder that my card is not transferrable... my poor wife was so embarrassed and thought that I would get into a lot of trouble - poor thing.

That's good advice I will phone ahead the day before we travel and try the honest route - after all we are all travelling as well. We'll be heading out on the 5.30am to Sydney so I just thought the club is likely to be closed when we want to use it anyway! They open at 5am right?

Cheers for the help everyone.

Witnessed a similar happening at Cairns QP last week where 2 young ladies were refused access as they had their mothers QP card. Quite loud for a while in front of the lounge crowd so I think they got their dose of embarrassment. Mum got phoned and a letter is on the way from QP ...
