Darwin QC lounge
Hi,
I (and mrs taswegian and little taswegian) experienced our first and most likely last lounge experience at DRW Sunday week ago and was quite disappointed in several points which some are not QF's doings. (Last not because I do not want to go to DRW but last because highly unlikely I will get back there again) Negatives. 1. Lounge was quite full or seemed full because people traveling alone deem it necessary to put their bags onto spare seats thus making it hard to know if it is being used or not. (These people need to get over their complexes and allow everyone a chance to obtain a seat) 2. The food availability was down a bit on the norm. The refresh rate was slow and the selection was quite light on. 3. I wish those who finish reading a paper do as I do and put the paper back. I am one of those not afraid to ask if it is being read otherwise I would not have got one. 4. I feel sorry for all those Platinum or Gold members who are flying JQ on the internatioanl flights as the lounge is not even open for the late afternoon/evening flights. (this definetely means I will never do a MEL-DRW-SIN leg with JQ, never.) 5. I had to go back and collect some friends arriving at 5pm and could not get into the lounge for a comp. drink as it was closed, so much for Platinum status, only good at major airports. (before anyone starts I understand why it is done, i just do not have to like it) Positives. 1. The bar was open at 12pm which is 1 hr earlier than normal which was nice. 2. The front counter staff were magnificent. I enquired about points upgrade on my ticket as it was a paid ticket so mrs taswegian could use the J seat as we also did on the way up (mrs taswegian is carrying 3 little devils in her tummy) and not only did I get the points upgrade (very light J load) but they extended it to junior and myself which was awesome. 3. The nice lady who saw us looking for 3 seats together and kindly offered to move to a single seat, thank you very much. Nice to see polite people still in this world of hustle and bustle. I guess this is sort of a lounge report so apologise if in wrong forum area. Cheers, Taswegian |

Re: Darwin QC lounge
I still think the lounge is better than the general area as it is all free, but the general area in DRW is quite nice. My comments were really more related to the layout and general rudeness (probably not meant however) of some people in there who think it is their right to take up three chairs for one person.
