D-Day 25th May 2005

I think I will be logged on to www.qantas.com.au at 12.01am 25/05/05 too take advantage of new scheme offers if any from QFF.
The recent publicity might have been good for us.
I have been looking at bookings MEL to LAX and capacity has been increasing over last few days for Oct 2005 for Y.
Keep an eye on other airline websites too

If that is the case then go get your tickets at the cheaper cost NOW rather then pay 16,000 points more.

HAHA, you are correct about that. I posted the new point costs in this link.

http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/disc...r=asc&start=75

Here is a badly formatted copy. I think Lindsay or NM formatted a copy for us but I can't find that thread.

---------------Old Sys-------New Sys
Wellington 30000-----36000
Auckland 30000-----36000
Ho Chi Minh 50000-----60000
Bangkok 50000-----60000
HK 50000-----60000
Shanghai 50000-----72000
Tokyo* 80000-----72000
Seoul* 80000-----72000
Honolulu* 80000-----72000
LA 80000-----96000
Paris 110000-----128000
London 110000-----128000

* Cheaper for ex-MEL

This is only for MLB people though. For example it is cheaper for Sydney people to fly to Japan (50,000 points) BEFORE 25th May then AFTER (72,000 points).

I just went back to check my QF account and sure enough, I am 15 SC's short of another UC. I have only one flight prior to 25 May (24 May BNE/SYD in V class, thus only 10 SC's) and I realised that I was going to fall 5 SC's short of an UC (and I don't want 5K points instead on 29 May, when I return SYD/BNE).

So, I've just upgraded that BNE/SYD sector to a K class (and 20 SC's) for an extra $126...I think the cost is well worth an UC rather than 5K points.

Good move. For me, an extra UC is worth a lot more than 5K points - unless it is a lonly single UC all by itself.

I took a strage routing home from FRA on my last DONE4 so I didn't fall 30SC's short of my next UC. Now I have 4 UC's available which is enough for a trans-Pacific upgrade, which is worth way more than 20,000 points!

When I checked in for the return flights (FRA-LHR-SIN-MEL-SYD-BNE), the agent at the LHR Flight Connections transfer desk asked why I was going that way and not just FRA-SIN-BNE. I explained about 25th May changes and my UC balance and she nodded in agreement and issued my boarding passes (complete with F upgrade LHR-MEL and MEL-SYD ). I also mentioned the lack of Skybeds on QF6 FRA-SIN and the lack of anything higher than J on those flights, and the better scotch in the LHR Concorde Room than the Delta Crown lounge at FRA. All good reasons for me to spend a few more hours on planes on my way home.

Hi guys,

Long time viewer, first time poster. Thanks for having me on board!

For everyone's information, Qantas has dumped a load of extra award seats for travel to US in 2006. There are a heap of days with seats (including returns) available for 80K. You better hurry, this sale will only last approx seven hours!

Cheers,
