Crutches onboard

Apologies if this appears twice, had a problem.

I'm travelling to Queensland from Melbourne in a few weeks. I'll be on crutches, just wondering what will happen to the crutches when i'm in my seat? Will they go in the over-head compartment? Or get spirited off by the hosties?

Will be travelling with my wife and two young kids. When we arrive at brisbane, is it possible to get someone to help us with our luggage, ie. airport staff? With me on crutches and we're taking the child-seat onboard as well, we think it might be a struggle to get everything to the car rental, with one child in a stroller as well.

Chris.

Re: Crutches onboard

From what I have seen crutches seem to end up in the lockers.

You will need to speak with the airline before hand about taking the child seat onboard though.

Re: Crutches onboard

There are luggage trolleys available at Brisbane airport, but at the domestic airport you have to pay for them (coin the slot I think), so plan t have a few dollar coins with you and hopefully your wife can manage to load and push. I suspect if you want assistance, then best to call now and request a wheelchair as that is probably what's needed to get any assistance with luggage.

Re: Crutches onboard

At Sydney airport, at least, you got a wheelchair but no-one to push it. I broke my ankle on a business trip and had to get back with crutches, suitcase, and a laptop. On the plane, the FA spirited the crutches off somewhere. It was a Dash 8, and I have no idea where she would have put them. I had to get a special lift to get me on and off the plane because I suck at crutches and was in heels.

How big is Kid #1? Could they maybe push Kid #2 in the stroller?
