After a recent cancelled flight, QF has sent me a $300 compo voucher - says I must use it by ringing some 1300 number or visiting a "Qantas Travel Store" (What is that anyway?)
I have found a good fare I want online - does this mean they need to book it and I need to pay some kind of booking fee?
If so, is not then possible to use the full voucher value ??

the easiest way I have found is to purchase flights over the counter at the airport using the voucher and $$$. If you smile nice, the wont charge a booking fee either. I found on the last one I was given (they look like a paper ticket) the ticket seller at MEL was a bit confused as to how they are used, so allow plenty of time to make your bookings if doing it that way.
Also as was rightly pointed out, you can telephone book, but the tickets won't be issued until QF have the voucher in their hand. I heard a story from a companion who's voucher was delivered to a person at QF who was on holiday then once the person was back, somehow ended up in her draw with other stuff... He missed out on using the voucher for the flight, had to pay a heap extra because of timing but did finally get the voucher back - I don't know if QF compensated the compensation... hmmmm that would confuse the auditors eh simongr?
And most of that is them trying to upsell you.. "now will you be needing car hire?" "now dear you realise that these are what we call 'Red-e-deal fares which you can't upgrade".. "Well I don't think one hour is enough in Sydney for a Domestic to International transfer, but the computer says OK"..
and on it went for a while. Sheesh.. could have done it myself online in about 10 mins..

Unlucky...... I searched and found the fares I wanted before going in, went in said I want X-X-X on XX day, fare is this much, class is blah - thank you very much.
The only reason it took a while to do was because I had 2 vouchers, and she didn't know how to process 2 on 1 transaction

I DID do that.. still took them ages. I think it's just a Perth thing - people here work a little slower than other places..
