2 Minute Car Rental
Article: Frequent flyers to gain under restructure
So my flight PER-ADL tonight was cancelled. We boarded, then a delay while the flight deck announced that the baggage handlers had reported a chemical smell in the cargo hold.
Aftre about 20 minutes at the stand, we were then asked to de-board and await further instructions. They announced they were seeking dispensation from DOTARS to land at Adelaide after curfew. 15 minutes later they announced that permission was denied.
A few of us waited in the QP and about 90 minutes later we were asked if we wanted rooms at the Holiday Inn Burswood or if we wanted cab vouchers to go home (if living in Perth)
They have subbed the 738 tomorrow at 6.20am for I believe now a 763 so am rebooked on that.
What a drama!
Still I must pay respect to the QF staff who missed the Opening Ceremony to help us all out, and they kept us informed the whole way. So a (currently rare) for PER QF staff tonight.
Apparently the MEL flight is VERY oversold in Y tonight so they announced a few pax were getting bumped to J.

bambbbam2,
I don't want to undersell what happened but is the heading, 'Arrggh! Flight Emergency' really appropriate
Ahh, but will we be reading about this in the papers tomorrow?
I did notice a few people taking photos, so wouldn't surprise me..
I want to say that the QF staff were really very helpful. They changed my sat arvo flight back to Sunday arvo, no questions asked.. even though it was a red-e-deal.
I have lost the wotif booking I had for Fri night though..
It was apparently caused by a package opening, inside a passengers bag. The chemical was either nail polish, acetate or acetone.
I thought it was odd that the crew kept asking the person who had packed the item to identify themselves by pressing their call button. 'Sif anyone was going to cough up in public..
They sent us all home/to hotels but wouldn't give any checked baggage back to any of the passengers, just offered an 'amenity kit' if anyone required one.
As tomorrow has been subbed from a 738 to a 763 I am hopeful us SG's might be bumped to J.. (I can dream can't I)
