Almost platinum!!!

Hi All,

I've got 80 SC's to go before 30th Sep 08 to attain Platinum status. It's been a hard slog over the last 12 months as all SC's were earnt domestically, mostly on budget economy tickets.

I am currently a Gold FF, and was wondering what people think are the major benefits I will notice when I go Platinum. Is it true you can access the QC anytime regardless of whether you are flying or not? If so does that mean I can take myself and 2 mates to the QC and have a few beers before heading off to the footy ??

Appreciate any feedback. Cheers.

Yes you can go a beer. The bar opens at 12:00 (or is it 1:00 pm ?). However if you drive the cost of getting to the airport and cost of parking may not be worth the beer money

Re: Almost platinum!!!

You will also find you gain access to the 'new' J lounges in SYD, MEL and BNE
plus have even better seat-choice when you OLCI on domestic flights

Do you have any internation travel for the following 12 months? If not, Plantinum will not really be all that much different IMHO, sure you get 100% miles and J lounge etc, but it is all the perks of Flounge and CX's superb treatment of OWE's that make all the difference.

My 2c worth.

Re: Almost platinum!!!

I second that... CX treats OWE pax like gods.

We managed to get upgraded to First on AA because the flight from LAS-LAX was full, all because we are OWEs.

Re: Almost platinum!!!

Also you should not be charged for any excess baggage... I once took 16 checked in bags and 4 carry on bags on a QF flight with my partner and did not get charged !

Re: Almost platinum!!!

You get front of the line for upgrades, especially useful on say AU-Europe trips actually since being WP i have not missed a requested upgrade, sure a little bit of luck but much better hit rate than before.

And yes CX does treat OWE well (And the Flounge in HLG where i had lunch today is fantastic)

Re: Almost platinum!!!

Based on the type of travel you seem to undertake, I am not sure you will notice any change at all. I achieved platinum status after doing a Leyland Brothers in economy in my first year as a QFF member. I already had corporate QC membership, so even that was no different.

I suspect, as people point out, if you travel overseas, then it might have some impact but otherwise, your travel experience is unlikely to feel any different. Sorry, but congrats on at least getting there.

Re: Almost platinum!!!

Agreed.

Domestically SG's and WP's are treated largely the same. The new J lounges are nothing to write home about in my opinion and last week were busier than the regular QC at 3-4pm.

Internationally the Flounge is well worth it IMO if a regular user and the obvious access to points upgrades (which I always missed as SG).
